A MILESTONE IN UNDERSEA EXPLORATION
A MILESTONE IN UNDERSEA EXPLORATION
In July of 1964, under the leadership of Captain George F. Bond, a courageous team of pioneers embarked on a groundbreaking mission to push the boundaries of human endurance and conquer the challenging depths of the ocean. This endeavor, famously known as SEALAB, marked a significant leap forward in the realm of diving and played a pivotal role in advancing mankind’s quest for underwater exploration.

Fast forward sixty years, and the Man in the Sea Museum is gearing up to commemorate this historic achievement from July 18-20. The focal point of the celebration will be honoring the world’s first-ever open-ocean saturation dive, a remarkable feat that underscored the bravery and ingenuity of the divers and support personnel involved in the SEALAB program.

The event promises to be a tribute to the diverse team of engineers, logistics experts, photographers, and other professionals whose collaborative efforts made SEALAB a resounding success. Through exhibitions, talks, and interactive displays, visitors will have the opportunity to delve into the challenges faced and the groundbreaking discoveries made during this pioneering era of undersea exploration.
