FIRE ON RECREATIONAL BOAT
Yaiza, Lanzarote – An explosion on a recreational boat docked at Marina Puerto Calero sparked a fire that left two men with moderate burns on the night of August 5, 2024. The incident occurred at 8:22 PM when an explosion in the boat\'s engine room ignited a blaze, which was quickly brought under control by emergency services.

The injured men, aged 46 and 43, were treated at the scene by personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and then transported by medicalized ambulances to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for specialized care.

The Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources, including the Lanzarote Consortium for Security, Emergency, Rescue, Prevention, and Fire Extinguishment, which handled the fire suppression. Salvamento Marítimo, local police, and the Civil Guard also responded to assist with the injured and secure the area.

The Civil Guard has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and is preparing a report. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, though the explosion and fire caused significant concern among local residents and tourists.
